Michael G. Neece lives in North Carolina and directs the Gilead Programming Academy for Gilead Sciences. In his free time, he presents star shows at Morehead Planetarium & Science Center under the same dome where astronauts once trained. And clearly, he writes. He is a firm believer in Rawls’ Veil of Ignorance as a conceptual framework for how to live.

More about the author

Neece combines teaching, a love of science and storytelling, and a constant focus on kindness in all of his endeavors. He transports audiences into space during live star shows, revealing the nuances of stargazing while connecting to our shared human experience. He teaches SAS programming to early career programmers with the reminder that everything has one aim – to help patients who need hope. He also writes books to inspire youth to reach for a future that only they can build and other books to infuse kindness into the workplace at every turn.

Academy Director

Neece combines his love of teaching with his experience as a leader in five industries to work with early career professionals and college interns to teach them the ins and outs of the working world. By learning to infuse kindness in the workplace, participants learn to become new pharma programmers who help solve difficult problems for patients while also lifting up colleagues so that the work flows more easily. Our aim is to build the future we want to live in, one program at a time, one patient at a time, and one kind act at a time.
